Team Chile

The last month has been a whirl wind of activity. We traveled from the cold of the Pacific Northwest to Orlando Florida on Christmas day. One would maybe expect to be greeted by warmer weather when in Florida, but Oh no, not us. It was about forty degrees and thirty mile an hour winds. We froze our patuties off for the first couple of days. We also had a blended family vacation with two - twenty year olds and a seventeen year old. Two of these family members live with their mother during a normal(?) day but we thought it would be special to spend Christmas together in Disney World. We got home on New Years Day and have been busy preparing for our trip to San Luis, Chile. Our team is sixteen strong (or weak) and we are going to build a schoolroom for a Christian school and also we will be holding daily vision clinics. We are packing trunks filled with donated used glasses that we have cleaned, read the prescription, marked and sorted. The team does basic vision testing using eye charts and reader cards to determine the needs and then by trial and error find the prescription that works for each individual person. Some eye care counselling and some Christian love works wonders for the poor communities.
We leave on Thursday and have tons of last minute things to do. I know I will forget some things I am suppose to do but know that you are not far from my thoughts and in my prayers often. Too my missionary friends in France, WE LOVE YOU. My missionary friends in Mexico, Guatemala, Kenya and those too sensitive to mention, we will be praying for you as we go about the Lords work. My new found friends in blogg land, I will keep reading and will get back to reponding when we return next month.
Everyone, be sure to read Mary's stuff. She has a good grasp on what matters and is a gifted writter.
So long for now and happy trails to you, until we meet again. Happy trails to keep smiling until then.
John
